Minerva installed Access Control systems to two wards treating mental health patients, at the Roberts Centre located on the Kidderminster Hospital site.
Minerva Integrated Security Services has just completed the installation of a new Access Control system to two wards at the Robertson Centre for Worcestershire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust.
Both the wards (Harvington &Whitely) are designated for the treatment of mental health patients, requiring the Minerva team to take special care during installation, and to work with a high degree of sensitivity towards patients.
A PAC SecureNet Access Control system was installed providing a physical access control for entering and leaving both wards. The system is linked back, via the hospital’s corporate wide area network, to the main control room located at the Worcestershire Royal Hospital, from where the entire system can be controlled.
The Kidderminster operation is managed by Worcestershire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust, and one of the key elements of the remit was to have a central control option located some miles away at the Elgar Unit at Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

This fully hybrid system supports both hardwired and wireless peripherals, SMS text signalling to up to three mobile numbers, and features automated remote diagnostics and servicing connections - allowing the system to be re-configured and maintained remotely. This Honeywell system was chosen for the Stone House building because it is currently unoccupied. The ability to receive alerts automatically through text messaging, allows Workman to be confident that should a fire break out, or a breach of security occur, up to three members of its team will be alerted immediately through a text message on their mobile phones.
